Access to medical care hs gone downhill in Oregon and across the U.S. since 2000

Taken from OregonLive.com

More than 18 percent of Oregon adults skipped medical care because they couldn’t afford it in 2010,up from 12.7 percent a decade earlier.

A new study shows that significant deterioration in access to care occurred across the U.S. In nearly every state, the authors found a worsening pattern for three access measures among nonelderly adults:unmet needs due to cost, routine checkups, and dental visits. The table below compares rates and changes in Oregon,Washington and the U.S.
Loss of health insurance partly explains the trend. In Oregon, the share of adults with no health coverage rose from 14.8 percent in 2000 to 21.7 percent in 2010. In Washington,it rose from 17.2 percent to 20 percent.
